Space Wolves: Grey hunters (Part 2) Finished

Long time passed since I have posted last message about grey hunter's squad. And now it is finished. I spent too much time on it. But I'm happy with the result.

My next work is going to be a new project, some kind of my own space marine chapter. I am planning my return to the grey Space wolves later, one day....

Few days ago, I decided to take a break from painting Space Wolves tactical squad. Then an idea appeared. And I decided to draw small picture of something, just to try. After that, I started to search easy guide of a little picture to draw it. Eventually, I saw a website, where I found several manuals of freehanding Space Wolves symbols (link below). I like that guides, because I found them useful and easy. So I tried to draw one of symbols. I chose Harald Deathwolf company symbol. I draw it on cardboard. Here are photos and some comments.

First phase. It is a finished first sketch of wolf head drawn in pencil. To make correction of my mistakes easier, I used a transparent pencil. There are no "sun" on this sketch. I decided to draw it later.

Second phase. Icon drawn with a thick pencil. I did that to make clear edges.

Third phase. Picture in colors. Firstly, I painted wolf head in black color. Then I painted background in red. And after that I drew white "sun". For that I used  games-workshop paints. Then, I drew some highlights on wolf head to make some relief.

Fourth phase. Varnishing picture. After this step cardboard became bent.

And last one step. I cut unnecessary cardboard fringes.

Necrons weekends

Today I returned back home from the country. I spent weekends there with my best friend. We played Warhammer game. Cost of my army was near 1500 points. My army was chaos space marines. That game was my first game with allies. My allies was Necrons. My friend's army was army of Ultramarines. It was funny, interesting and long game.
A little bit about Necrons. Some time ago, we decided to paint a little Necrons army. It is so, because they became really awesome after update. New units, new rules, new history etc. But the main feature is time economy. We chose easy and fast Necron painting scheme, which let us paint miniatures really fast. It was our first experience to paint miniatures fast. Full warriors squad and squad of five immortals were finished in a week. It was successful experiment. As, for example, it takes me 3-4 days to finish a single miniature. We're going to continue painting Necrons in future.
